Carabao Cup Draw: Liverpool Enter the Competition in the Third Round

What is the story about?

Liverpool FC will officially begin their Carabao/League Cup campaign on Wednesday night.

The Reds will learn their first opponent in the competition when the third-round draw takes place after Preston North End and Everton meet, live on Sky Sports. It is scheduled to begin at approximately 10.15 pm BST.

A pre-draw will also be held live on Sky Sports around 7.20 pm BST. This will determine whether the eight clubs participating in European competition will play their third-round tie at home or away.

The Reds are record ten-time winners of the League Cup, and last won the competition in 2024, when Virgil van Dijk memorably scored an extra-time winner in a 1-0 win against Chelsea, in a team that was mostly teenagers.
