The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for their first AFC North matchup of the season, and fans are awaiting to hear if cornerback Joey Porter Jr. will make his season debut.
The former second-round pick has yet to take the field in 2026 after missing all of training camp while seeking a new contract. He was placed on the PUP list with a back injury, but has since had that designation taken away on the injury report with the only designation being conditioning. However, per Tom Pelissero of The Ringer,
it doesn’t appear as if Porter will take the field in Week 3.
“Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. appears unlikely to make his season debut Sunday against the Bengals,” Pelissero reports. “But he is trending in the right direction to be back on the field soon — with a trade still a possibility.”
Should Porter not suit up on Sunday, trade talks will only get louder, and it would appear that a parting of ways would be the only plausible end to this standoff.
