According to multiple sources, Indianapolis Colts veteran wideout Keenan Allen was reportedly arrested early this morning in downtown Indianapolis for drunk driving (per Fox59’s Angela Ganote):
The Athletic’s
James Boyd has reported that he has been charged with two misdemeanors, according to online jail records. He was arrested on preliminary charges of DWI and OWI, and as Ganote notes above, taken into custody around 1 AM early Sunday morning in the 100 block of S. Meridian Street.
Per Ganote, the Colts have released the following statement so far when asked on Allen, “We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time.”
Allen actually made his Colts debut during the team’s preseason finale against the Detroit Lions at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday afternoon, when he caught 1 reception for 24 total receiving yards.
With final 53-man roster cuts incoming, it will be interesting to see if this affects Allen continued job security with the Colts. For a veteran who was brought in for his leadership among other things, the facts will have to play out, but this looks like it could be a serious lack of sound judgment.
Allen recently signed a 1-year, $8.32M contract with $2.8M guaranteed at signing.
