Jamal Musiala was subbed on in Bayern Munich’s 0-0 draw with Schalke last weekend, which is a significant step for him given his situation in preseason. In an interview with Sport1 (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia), Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen gave his thoughts on Musiala’s activities in the build-up to the Schalke match.
“Jamal trained very well. I thought it was great that Vincent included him in the squad, and also gave him minutes,” Dreesen said. “He subbed him on even though the game
wasn’t decided, which shows how much he trusts him. Everyone at the club is doing everything to support Jamal.”
Musiala collapsed twice during play in preseason because of a change in medication for his neurological condition, something he said he has always lived with and what had hitherto been under control before the change in medication. After working extensively behind the scenes, the 23-year-old was cleared to play and thus made his comeback against the Royal Blues.
