If there was any doubt after the way the final match at the latest edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event ended at Madison Square Garden last night (July 18), it didn’t even last 24 hours.
Sunday afternoon from Fanatics Fest in another part of New York City*, WWE’s SummerSlam Kickoff kicked off with Gunther confronting Triple H about that SNME match, which he and Sami Zayn lost to CM Punk and Cody Rhodes after Nick Aldis blasted Gunther with Punk’s WWE championship belt. With that loss, Der Ring General
and Zayn lost a chance to be added to Punk and Rhodes’ title match at SummerSlam.
Suspended SmackDown General Manager — and former TNA and NWA World champion — Nick Aldis got his answer to when Gunther wants to do this along with a kick in the breadbasket. The Game then told them they’ll “settle this once and for all at SummerSlam”.
