The hits keep coming for Bayern Munich.
Right-back Konrad Laimer did not play for Austria vs. Ghana and it has to do with a knee issue per comments from Austria boss Ralf Rangnick (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Konrad Laimer did not feature against Ghana yesterday due to knee discomfort.
Ralf Rangnick: “Konny trained normally yesterday and had no problems. But after training, he felt something in his knee. It was an irritation, so we decided not to take any risks. We know which games he still has coming
up. We don’t need to test Konny; we know what we have in him. Therefore, it was clear to me that we wouldn’t take any risks.”
Will he play against South Korea on Tuesday?
Rangnick: “We have to wait and see. We won’t take any risks.”
While this does not sound serious, everything at this stage should be considered something to closely monitor for the Bavarians. An extended absence for Laimer would be less than ideal.
