The Mets have traded left-handed reliever A.J. Minter to the Twins for a pair of prospects: infielder Billy Amick and fellow infielder Bruin Agbayani. The latter is the son of Mets cult hero Benny Agbayani.
Signed to a two-year, $22 million deal ahead of the 2025 season, Minter suffered a lat injury early in his first season with the Mets that cost him the remainder of the year. But he made it back to the major league mound this year, and in total, he threw 34.0 innings in his time with the Mets with a 2.12
ERA and a 3.35 FIP.
As for the return, Amick has hit .217/.338/.482 with 23 home runs in his age-23 season in Double-A this year. He was drafted by the Twins in the second round in 2024, and he’s logged significant innings at first and third base.
Agbayani has spent his age-19 season this year in Single-A, and he’s hit .268/.412/.342 in 51 plate appearances. He’s logged innings at second base, third base, and shortstop.
