The offseason continues to move along, as this week we’ve had a spate of low-profile relief signings; Caleb Thielbar re-signing with the Cubs, the Nationals handing $5.5 million to lefty Foster Griffin, the Giants inking Jason Foley for $2 million, and the Reds landing former Yankee Caleb Ferguson on a one-year deal. Exciting stuff! The Yankees were in the news not for signing a reliever, but for being interested in a reunion with one, as Chris Kirschner reported that there’s mutual interest in Luke
Weaver returning to the Bronx. On that note, on the site today Jeff makes the case for bringing back Weaver, while Michael continues our Free Agency series with a look at the signing of Goose Gossage
Questions/Prompts:
1. The Yankees and Luke Weaver are reportedly “interested” in a reunion. Do you think he’d have much chance at returning to his stellar 2024 form if he did come back to New York?
2. Hypothetically, say that the Yankees make one more major move this offseason (think Cody Bellinger, Michael King, etc.), to go along with their series of fine marginal moves. Would you consider such an offseason to be a success?
