The saying goes that old habits die hard and for German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann, it might be difficult to leave Leroy Sané out of the starting XI even if Lennart Karl continues to excel.
“We’ll see over the next week and a half. A lot has happened to (Karl) in the last few months – processing all of that is one of the biggest challenges at his age. He did well, creating chances and creating space for others. But you all saw Leroy Sané’s cameo – that was brilliant. Leroy brings incredible
dynamism. Jamal (Musiala) blocked that one situation in the end; otherwise, Leroy would have scored. And then we also have Jamie (Leweling) up our sleeve,” Nagelsmann said in statements released by the DFB (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It was not all that long ago that Nagelsmann was trying to downplay Deniz Undav, but it sure seems like Nagelsmann was trying to talk the Karl hype down a bit.
As Bayern Munich fans learned during Nagelsmann’s time in Bavaria, the coach had trouble leaving Sané out of the lineup. Will the manager be able to resist the urge when the World Cup starts?
