Vibes surrounding the Steelers have changed significantly following a thorough beat down at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked his age, overthrowing open
receivers and often looking skittish in a clean pocket. Father Time might have struck midnight.
Which means rookie signal-callers are once again en vogue.
On Saturday, the Steelers scouted Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik for the fourth time this season, according to Alan Saunders of Pittsburgh Steelers Now.
Klubnik was widely considered a top-10 pick entering the season but has struggled mightily to find his footing. After tossing 36 touchdowns to six interceptions last season, he has just 14 touchdowns to five picks in 2025, but he’s played much better as of late.
In Klubnik’s first four games of 2025, where he led the Tigers to a 1-3 record, he posted 44.9 total quarterback rating, 60.1% completion rate, 11.2 yards per completion, and 2.7% interception rate through those contests.
Since then, Klubnik has totaled 1,197 yards with 10 touchdowns to just one interception. Over that four-game stretch, he’s posted an 89.6 Total QBR, completed 77.8% of his passes, averaged 12.5 yards per completion, and thrown picks on just 0.9% of his attempts.
Clemson has gone 3-1 in those four games, and Klubnik has shown his resiliency against better competition – including a win at Louisville on Friday — the game in which the Steelers brass was in attendance.
The black and gold could potentially target a signal-caller in the second round if they lean wideout or cornerback in round one.
