I recommend listening to Becky Lynch’s appearance on Peter Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat podcast, because they go over a lot and Lynch is wildly entertaining pretty much every time she speaks. An interesting quote making the rounds coming out of the podcast, however, deals with Lynch mentioning top stars aging out.
As she put it:
“When I think of the talent that we have right now, the Seth Rollins’, the Sami Zayn’s, the Sheamus’, the Finn Balor’s, the Charlotte Flair’s, the Bayley’s, we’re all going to be
aging out at some point around the same time and there’s gonna be a whole new era, a whole new run of people but it’s probably not that far off. We are all closer to the end than we are the beginning. There’s gonna be a lot of us eventually, so maybe we should all shut up and appreciate me while we have me.”
The current ages of all those she mentioned, herself included: 39, 39, 41, 48, 44, 39, 36. That’s definitely on the older side but let’s not act like these folks are ancient. The pro wrestling industry is such that legitimate stars can and have done some of the best work of their careers in their late 40’s and even early 50’s. She’s not wrong that they’re on the wrong side of things but I’m not sure I agree that they’re aging out anytime soon.
What do you think?
