Former Duke quarterback Daniel Jones was originally drafted by the New York Giants with the sixth pick in the 2019 draft and while he had some great stretches, ultimately the parties parted ways in 2024 and after a year with Minnesota, Jones signed with the Indianapolis Colts for 2025. And in the first game for the Colts, Jones was spectacular.
Indianapolis was the first team since 1977 to score on every possession in a 33-8 win over Miami. It was a superb performance all around, but for Jones, it
was a sweet bit of redemption. Duke fans had an idea of what he could do and the Giants recognized his talent early, even if things didn’t work out.
We’ll see what happens in Indy, but for now? What a way to start his tenure there.
Also worth mentioning – the Giants lost their opener to Washington, 21-6.
