Three TCU players scored goals as the No. 14 ranked Horned Frogs cruised to a 3-1 win over Oklahoma State in Fort Worth on Sunday evening. Sydney Becerra, Grace Vest and Emma Yolinsky all found the net
for the Horned Frogs (12-2-1, 6-1-1 Big 12), who are currently second in the conference standings to Texas Tech (6-0-2) after the victory against the Cowgirls. Like the match against Baylor, TCU once again dominated the shot chart, posting an 18-5 advantage in shots and a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal against Oklahoma State. Olivia Geller had one save.
Becerra gave the Horned Frogs the lead during the 10th minute, taking a pass from teammate Grace Coppinger and putting a left-footed ball into the Oklahoma State net. In the 40th minute, Cameron Patton crossed a ball in for Vest, who scored to give TCU a 2-0 advantage shortly before halftime. While the Cowgirls avoided the shutout with a goal in the 56th minute, TCU already held a three-goal lead after Yolinsky converted a ball off a corner kick during the 54th minute. The Horned Frogs outshot Oklahoma State 10-1 in the first half of the match. Sunday’s match marked the fourth time this season that three or more TCU players scored goals in the same game.
Vest’s goal was the first of her TCU career. The Horned Frogs, who’ve won 17 of their last 19 Big 12 matches, will continue conference play with road matches in the state of Arizona later this week. TCU will face Arizona on Thursday before taking on Arizona State in Tempe on Sunday evening. The Horned Frogs are scheduled to end the regular season with a home match against Houston on Oct. 30. Arizona, Arizona State and Houston are all in the bottom half of the conference standings, meaning TCU could make a run for the Big 12 regular season title.
