Week 8 saw four top ten teams go down: Miami, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and LSU. At least they lost to good teams, with the four winning opponents all being ranked teams below. That’s competition folks! Elsewhere,
Alabama picked up their fourth win in a row over a ranked SEC team, a new record. In the Big Ten, Ohio State, Indiana, and Oregon all rolled. The ACC is as wide open as ever, with eight teams having zero or one conference losses.

The biggest riser in the poll was Vanderbilt, climbing seven spots. Georgia Tech rose five spots to get into the top ten. Arizona State and Michigan rejoined the rankings. The Miami Hurricanes fell seven spots, but remain inside the top ten. Texas Tech matched that seven-spot drop. Both were eclipsed by LSU however, which fell ten spots. Week 9 has three top 25 matchups, all in the SEC: #8 Ole Miss at #13 Oklahoma, #15 Missouri at #10 Vanderbilt, and #3 Texas A&M at #20 LSU
