What is the story about?
You always said the Dots would never do you wrong
The trick, you said, was never play the game too long
- We are a day closer to one of the biggest games of the season, when Ohio State comes to Husky Stadium to face the Dawgs. Of course, most of the news revolves around that match-up. On Tuesday, the coaching staff spoke to the media. Christian Caple noted that the tone of the discussion about the Washington secondary led him to believe that Tacario Davis is more likely to miss the game than to play. On the other hand, the coaches spoke glowingly about freshman Dylan Robinson, who has some of the same physical abilities as Davis. While Robinson still has plenty of refinement to do on his technique, he has the size and speed to challenge the Buckeyes’ superstar receiving corps, which may be a prerequisite to even get on the field on Saturday.
- Also for On Montlake, Caple posted a video diary of his day covering the Apple Cup. Caple takes us into Martin Stadium and onto the field to give a 360 degree view of what the media and the Huskies saw on gameday.
- One of the themes Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff has hammered home from the day they took over at UW is the importance of preparing for every game with the utmost focus and intensity. Ryan Walters spoke about it last week going into the Apple Cup and it was the headline of OC Jimmie Dougherty’s press conference this week, as recapped by Dawgman. Dougherty also noted that Ohio State’s defense, run by Matt Patricia, has some similarities to the one the Huskies played last year under another ex-Patriots assistant, Steve Belichick. However, the level of players in the Ohio State system make the scheme design a secondary concern.
- Also for 247Sports, Brandon Huffman has a list of the Official Visitors who will be on hand for the Huskies-Buckeyes game. It is an impressive list and the ability to make an impression on this group will inevitably have a major effect on next year’s recruiting class. One interesting nugget is that high-end RB recruit Noah Roberts will be sharing the sideline with Husky Legend honoree Myles Gaskin.
- Huskies Men’s and Women’s Golf were both in action this week. The Men’s team played at The Tindall at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton. The Dawgs finished third behind BYU and Utah, who both rank in the top 25 nationally. The Women’s team finished fifth in Fort Collins, CO, where the tournament was cut short due to bad weather.
I think this was specifically made for my wife:
