It’s almost game time in Iowa City! Your favorite Iowa program and mine are back from a 2-0 road trip to Florida, where they knocked off the (then) No. 7 ranked Baylor Bears and the unranked Miami Hurricanes.
The wins came at somewhat of a cost, though, as the Hawks lost starting point guard Chit Chat Wright for a bit of time due to a concussion. The team struggled against Miami as a result, with Taylor Stremlow slotting into the starting lineup. Stremlow herself wasn’t the problem, but the Hawkeyes did struggle at times offensively, particularly at the end of the game, scoring no field goals in the last 8:30 of play time. But, a win is a win, and Ava Heiden and Hannah Stuelke looked dominant.
So, it’s onto the next one as the Hawkeyes host a couple of home games this week where they hope to right the ship a bit before the impending matchup against Iowa State.
This shouldn’t be close tonight, but it will be interesting to see who gets minutes and when after Jan Jensen tightened the rotation against Miami, with Addie Deal the only bench player to play more than 10 minutes. I expect we’ll see those bench numbers increase tonight.

As always, be respectful, and look for me posting here as well as on The Feed. Still figuring out what I want to put where, but like the Hawkeyes, it’s early in the season and we’ll figure it out by conference play.
