Some places do power rankings. Here at Cageside, we do a stock report.
In this weekly series, we identify three Superstars (or groups of Superstars) who are on their way up, and three that are moving in the opposite direction. After a busy week that included Naomi’s incredible pregnancy announcement promo on Raw, R-Truth traveling to the wrong Dublin, and Brock Lesnar contacting Nick Aldis, a lot of fortunes were changed.
With that in mind, let’s see whose stock decreased the most this week:
Stock Down #3: Motor City Machine Guns
Last week
on SmackDown, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin said they are “kind of the kings” of tag team wrestling, while Melo Don’t Miz “wrestle in a team like they’ve just met in catering” and are “not even close to being at our level.” The babyfaces backed up those tough words on this week’s episode by…losing against Melo Don’t Miz in a tag team match.
Motor City Machine Guns have not won a match in over four months, so maybe they should go back to sit in catering next week while Melo Don’t Miz advance to a tag team championship number one contender’s match against the Street Profits.
Stock Down #2: Nia Jax
After spending a few weeks in NXT, Nia Jax returned to SmackDown on last week’s episode and talked a big game about being the woman who will take the WWE women’s championship from Tiffany Stratton. Jax then had her first match back on this week’s episode, but she was pinned by Jade Cargill. It would seem that Nia is already a pretender to the championship, while Cargill should be next in line for a title shot.
Stock Down #1: MFT
Solo Sikoa’s MFTs recently said they are coming after tag team championship gold, but that plan was already derailed on this week’s SmackDown when they lost against the Street Profits. It looks like the MFTs better get used to protecting Solo’s run as United States champion rather than getting their own run in the tag division.
Now let’s see whose stock increased the most this week:
Stock Up #3: Judgment Day
Things are looking up for World Tag Team Champion Finn Balor and Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio right now. Balor cashed in on the buzz surrounding Mr. Iguana by revealing a Demon puppet at Triplemania and then beating Iguana’s team in a tag match on Raw. Mysterio helped Finn win that match, and then laid out AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo afterwards. Dirty Dom is also working on a side deal with El Grande Americano, which Balor is suspicious of, but could be setting Mysterio up to add more championship gold to his collection soon.
Stock Up #2: Becky Lynch
The Man had a very busy week in WWE. She first successfully defended her women’s Intercontinental championship against Natalya on Raw. Becky then appeared on SmackDown in her home country of Ireland to berate the fans and wrestle in the main event. Lynch came off like a big time star while trashing the Irish fans, and she has a feud with WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella waiting for her to continue next week. Becky also has a very hot American husband, in case you didn’t know.
Stock Up #1: John Cena
John Cena was on fire during his babyface promo this week on SmackDown where he tore apart YouTube douchebag Logan Paul for being a parasite who is in WWE for all the wrong reasons. Cena was so damn good on the mic here that it makes it even more maddening just how much of his retirement tour was wasted on John being a mediocre heel.
There you have it, Cagesiders. Whose stock do you think changed the most this week?
