Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is giving his side of the situation after he got involved in an altercation with Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 323.
A very brief video went viral after the
event that showed Hill telling the UFC Hall of Famer “I’ll knock you the f*ck out … if you touch my girl I’m going to knock you the f*ck out.” Jedrzejczyk then responded “yeah, you will?’ with security intervening to ensure the situation didn’t turn physical.
In her statement addressing the altercation, Jedrzejczyk didn’t speak to what led to the confrontation but said “when somebody uses my name, falsely, without any basis in truth, I will always stand up for myself, and for that I do not deserve to be threatened.”
Now Hill has fired back while claiming that the entire ordeal happened without him fully understanding why Jedrzjecyzk was so angry at him. Hill immediately dispelled the rumor that Jedrzejczyk got aggressive towards his girlfriend because she wasn’t actually at the event with him — a fact his girlfriend backed up with a post on her Instagram account.
Instead, Hill says he was at the event with his little brother and they went to a VIP lounge were fighters were allowed to get food and drinks at the event when he says Jedrzejczyk approached him.
“I greet everybody. I go up to Joanna, I say ‘hey what’s up champ, how you doing?’” Hill said in a video posted to his YouTube account. “She’s like ‘yeah, what’s up? Where’s your girl? Your girl’s not here? Where’s your girl?’ I was like no, she’s not here.’
“She’s like ‘you’re Mr. Big Player Man, Mr. Big Time.’ I’m like what are you talking about? She’s like ‘yeah, I don’t know how you get down in America but I’m from Poland, we’re real gangsters, I don’t do this shit, I don’t play this shit.’ I’m like yo, what’s going on? What happened? So I asked her about this. Was something said? Did you hear something? Talk to me. What’s going on? What are you upset about?’”
Hill claims that Jedrzejczyk refused to address why she was so angry towards him but the situation only escalated from there.
“This lady just completely flipped her shit,” Hill said. “She’s going on [saying] ‘no, motherf*cker, you like talking shit, you like talking shit!’ This is the first legible thing she’s said. I was like I was talking shit, let’s start there. What did I say? She said ‘no, I don’t do this, I’m from Poland motherf*cker.’ I’m like Joanna, I’m just trying to understand what you’re upset about. What did I say? What did you hear that has you this upset? Can you articulate what you’re upset about?’
“[She said] ‘I’m no f*cking lawyer, I don’t have no f*cking lawyer, all this bullshit, I’m from Poland, I’ll f*ck you up, I’ll f*ck you up, I’m not scared.’ I’m like whoa, now she’s threatening me! Then she says ‘I should have smashed your girl’s head in, go over and smash your head in, too! I don’t give a f*ck.’ Now she’s threatened me, she’s threatened my girl. I have not threatened her. I have not raised my voice to her. All I’ve asked her is what is the issue? What is going on? I asked her one more time, can you articulate for me what the issue is? What was said?’
“She said ‘no, you’re talking shit, you’re talking shit.’ If I’m talking shit, what did I say? [She said], ‘no, I don’t know, I just know you’re talking shit, I hear you’re talking shit.’ So you’re upset with me and you don’t know what I said. You can’t tell me what I said and you’re this upset but you can’t tell me what I said or what you’re upset about.”
Hill says at that point he fired back at Jedrzejczyk verbally but claims he never got aggressive towards her. While the video showing the altercation lasts less than 10 seconds, Hill pointed out that security was holding onto Jedrzjecyzk while he was not being restrained at all, which he says proves his point about who was being aggressive during the altercation.
“I was like with that being said, you can’t tell me why you’re upset,” Hill said. “You’re upset with me, you’re coming at me crazy and all these things and now I don’t give a f*ck about why you’re mad. I don’t care. I don’t care whatever reason why you’re mad. I don’t care and you sound f*cking retarded. I told her, you sound retarded, to me. At this point, she’s already threatened me, she’s threatened my girl. I’m not trying to hear this shit. She’s walked up in my face now. She’s approached me also in my face like she’s going to do something to me.
“All the people talking about ‘Joanna was the aggressor.’ My girl wasn’t there. She was being aggressive towards me. The whole time. Threatening me, being aggressive towards me. Not one time did I get aggressive, did I go towards her, raise my voice, anything. At that point, I’m like you’re making a scene, this shit ain’t cool. The UFC staff comes, they grab her, start moving her away and now she’s getting real loud talking about ‘just wait, I’ll f*ck you and I’ll f*ck your girl up.’ I’m like if you would have touched my girl, I would have knocked you the f*ck out and if you touch my girl, I’m going to knock you the f*ck out. She’s threatening to assault my girl.”
Hill then went onto explain what he believes is the genesis behind Jedrzejcyzk’s anger towards him and it dates back even further to a couple of past incidents involving the fighters.
The former light heavyweight champion claimed that he was at an event recently where he was seated alongside his girlfriend at the same table as Jedrzejczyk and her manager. Hill says it was a cordial enough conversation between everybody involved but he claims Jedrzejczyk’s manager started hinting at a past run-in between the fighters.
“There’s absolutely no problems at all but Joanna’s manager is playing this little game,” Hill said. “A couple of years ago in New York, when the whole bus incident happened [ahead of UFC 229], a bunch of us were in there, Joanna was in New York, I was in New York and I shot my shot. I was shooting my shot. I was shooting my shot, I tried to smash.
“Her manager, this entire time we’re at this event is like subliminally trying to drop messages to my girl, trying to dry snitch. The thing is, I’m real, I’m a real honest and transparent person. My girl already knew this. My girl had already known this, I had already talked to her. We had already spoken on this. She kept doing this. [My girlfriend] brings this to my attention like ‘I don’t know what’s going on, she keeps dropping like subliminal hints about New York, is there something more about New York that I don’t know or whatever?’ I’m like no, I told you what happened. I tried to f*ck with her, nothing happened. It was what it was.’”
Hill claims that Jedrzejcyzk’s manager continued to push the situation, which prompted a response from his girlfriend.
“When she does it again, my girl tells her ‘I know about New York, I’m not mad, I’m not tripping about it, we’re good, I know my man, we’re good.’” Hill claimed. “So her manager takes this and because she can’t drive a wedge or get the reaction she wanted so she just straight up turns to Joanna and said ‘you had sex with Jamahal?’ Says this to her in front of my girl, which understandably could be embarrassing for her, which is something I absolutely never said.
“I said I tried to sleep with her. She says this to Joanna. Joanna jumps up, she’s like ‘no, I’m not like that, I’m from Poland, we’ve got morals, we don’t do that.’ Now mind you this entire time we’re at this event, my girl and Joanna have been sitting and talking, they’ve been cool, best of friends, this whole time. She was not tripping about this at all.”
Hill then showed off past messages he shared with Jedrzejczyk over social media surrounding the event in New York where he admittedly attempted to hook up with her.
Outside of that, Hill claims he never messaged Jedrzejczyk or really had any kind of interaction with her until that recent event where they were seated together.
“From what I’m being told and what she’s not saying publicly, she was upset that I told my girl that she was in my DM’s and she was trying to get with me and all this and that’s why she was upset,” Hill said. “Never happened. I never said that whatsoever. Absolutely never said that. What I said was I made the advances.
“I still don’t know why she’s mad. If she can tell anybody why she’s made, please truly, let me know.”
Hill says he’s not upset towards Jedrzejcyzk, and he’s not holding a grudge, but he claims the former UFC strawweight champion was the cause of the altercation between them at UFC 323.
“I don’t hold no ill will towards JJ,” Hill said. “My girl don’t hold no ill will towards JJ. She actually really liked JJ.”
