Bayern Munich began their quest in the knockout stages of the Champions League by obliterating Italian side Atalanta 6-1 in their home turf. Five players scored a goal in that match, and Michael Olise was at the heart of it.
The 24-year-old Frenchman was voted Man of the Match, and the stats suggest that he deserved it:
While the match was slightly marred due to Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, and Jonas Urbig all coming off with injuries as the game progressed, it’s still a commendable outing from the Bavarians. The most impressive bit? Harry Kane was not involved one bit in this match. Six goals and none of them were scored by Kane? That takes some beating to do.
In the other games, Newcastle United drew 1-1 with FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid swept the floor with Tottenham Hotspur with a 5-2 win, and Liverpool ended up losing once again, this time 1-0 to Galatasaray.
