Good morning, Broncos Country!
Von Miller is itching for a comeback.
The former Denver Broncos player wants to play for, and likely retire with, the Broncos. Now he’s taken to speak with ESPN Broncos reporter Jeff Legwold. The Super Bowl 50 MVP and one of the best players in franchise history did an interview with Legwold on Wednesday.
When asked if Miller lobbied with Broncos head coach Sean Payton in April in Los Angeles, Miller said:
“I lobbied, I do lobby, I lobbied publicly, privately, so I lobbied. I think there’s no question
the type of environment I bring to a locker room, I think there’s no question to the type of environment I bring to a team.”
Miller then listed off the things he would bring to Denver’s defense and the team.
“I don’t want to pat myself on the back, but at 37 years old, I can still roll out the bed and still rush the quarterback,” Miller said to ESPN. “I’m still a great guy in the locker room, I bring great energy, I make sure everybody is ready to go.”
Last season with the 5-12 Washington Commanders, Miller recorded his best sack total since 2021 with nine. Miller finished with 9 1/2 sacks in the 2021 season, playing for the Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams. Adding that kind of depth and production to the defense could be appealing. It’s just a matter of whether the team is even interested.
In his interview with Legwold, Miller left little doubt he’s playing in 2026. It’s just a matter if he does so in Denver.
“I would love to bring back those Super Bowl 50 vibes, love to assist, to be the vice president to (quarterback) Bo Nix, to (wide receiver) Courtland Sutton,” Miller said to ESPN. “I’ve been the guy, and also I’ve been the vice president. … I would love to contribute to us getting back to the glory land, to holding up that trophy.
“I would love to come back home and do that for the organization that has given me so much.”
We’ll see if Miller’s lobbying leads to a return with the Broncos.
