Sean Strickland got some sparring in recently, where he taught a young student a valuable lesson.
During a visit to Cruz MMA, a gym in Nutley, N.J., run by Alex Pereira’s head coach Plinio Cruz, Strickland joined sparring in one of the gym’s classes. The former UFC middleweight champion was paired up with a kid, and while Strickland was going extremely light, he did land a teep kick to the body that knocked the wind out of his young sparring partner.

“That was fast,” Strickland said after landing the kick. “That wasn’t hard, I promise.”
The student ended up recovering and tried to bring the fight back to Strickland, turning up the aggression, much to the delight of the 185-pounder.
After the sparring session, he reacted to his spar with Strickland, and what he took away from it.
“Man, he hit me with a teep, wind knocked out instantly,” he said. “I had to get back up because I wanted [to keep going] so bad.”
Strickland hasn’t competed since suffering a lopsided decision loss to former champion Dricus du Plessis in the main event of UFC 312 in February.
