Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford nearly earned more money than the entire UFC roster in 2025 for their boxing superfight last weekend on Netflix.
As expected, the Canelo-Crawford fight card was a smashing success. The event, which was co-promoted by UFC CEO Dana White, reportedly pulled in 36.6 million live global viewers . Those are the best viewership numbers ever for a men’s title fight. However, those numbers have already been questioned.
Aside from how many people actually watched the fight,
the event still delivered the goods. The undercard was fairly entertaining before the main event spectacle between Canelo and Crawford offered up 12 rounds of elite action. Crawford surprised many by shutting Canelo down for the most part and walking away with the unanimous decision win (highlights HERE).
When it was all said and done, Canelo and Crawford walked away with a huge payday for their superfight throwdown. To be more specific, Canelo’s expected payday for last weekend’s fight on Netflix was in excess of $100 million. Paired with Crawford’s payout and the two combined for roughly $200 million. That total not only indicates that boxing is alive and strong in 2025, but also that UFC fighters might not be getting paid enough.
In a recent comparison (shown below), the combined payday of Canelo and Crawford nearly matched the entire UFC roster earnings for 2025 (excluding upcoming events). This is for every fighter that has competed for UFC from the beginning of the year (approximately 430 in total), which includes current champions, top contenders, long-standing veterans, and free agent signees. Honestly, it’s quite alarming when you put these numbers in perspective (especially after seeing what Diego Lopes and Jean Silva did on the same night as Canelo-Crawford).
