Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich knew that Arsenal would present a different kind of challenge in the Champions League, but even someone as prepared as the German national team captain can sometimes get shocked when an opponent just comes out buzzing like the Gunners did in the second half of their 3-1 victory.
Kimmich acknowledges as much after the game.
“It definitely was a deserved defeat. We weren’t brave enough, we weren’t active enough, we didn’t give ourselves enough options. We knew
this game would be different to PSG and Chelsea, and that it would be more about fighting, long balls, set pieces. We conceded too many set pieces, so it’s difficult to defend all of them,” Kimmich said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It will be back to the drawing board for the Bavarians, who will look to rebound this weekend against St. Pauli in the Bundesliga.
