My FPL season hasn’t exactly kicked off in the best way, a bit like Manchester United’s campaign so far. I was close to pulling the wild-card trigger before GW-6, with plenty of tweaks needed across the squad,
but I opted against that.
Now, we are in gameweek seven, and there is still a need for more tinkering as I look to get my season back on track after a shaky few opening weeks. Here are my plans before the October international break.
FPL GW7 – Defender Picks
My current backline needs work despite Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro combining for 53 points so far.
Alternatives like Bournemouth’s Senesi, Palace’s Guehi, Sunderland’s Alderete, and even Arsenal defenders have been solid sources of attacking returns.
These players are currently on my radar, but at the moment, I plan to stick with my current group of defenders. After the internationals, there could be some movement within my squad.

FPL GW7 Midfield
In my midfield, Reijnders has been great value given his price, and I’m tempted to give Johnson another shot despite Spurs’ defensive approach lately.
Rogers remains a strong attacking option after Villa’s first win, while Semenyo feels like a must-have (even if I joined late). Bruno is still Bruno, a bit of a wildcard – you never know what to expect.
In all, I am satisfied with that part of my team, with Villa’s recent win buying Rogers some time. I might perhaps be the only one to have stuck with him for this long.
GW7 Forwards
Last week, I made a major tweak, one that I do not regret, at least for now, swapping Haaland for Salah and with the City forward looking unstoppable, it was a no-brainer.
Meanwhile, Watkins was transferred out with my patience growing thin, and in pure FPL fashion, he scored a goal, leaving me to rue my decision.
Joao Pedro finally delivered after I brought him in, though rotation with Mateta and Bowen is still a concern. If the tweaks don’t pay off soon, the wild-card may be coming out sooner rather than later.
That’s where I’m at heading into Gameweek 7. Still plenty of fires to put out, but I’m trying to stay patient and avoid any knee-jerk moves before the break. What about you? Are you sticking with your squad or ripping things up? Drop your plans, hits, and captain picks in the comments
