Barcelona’s hopes of retaining their Copa del Rey trophy ended on Tuesday night as Hansi Flick’s side were knocked out at the semi-final stage by Atletico Madrid.
After a disastrous first leg which ended 4-0, the Catalans put in a brave performance full of heart at Camp Nou. Flick saw his team win 3-0 but just miss out on levelling the game and forcing extra-time.
“We can be very proud of our performance, but we are disappointed,” said Flick afterwards. “We had chances, but in the end, it wasn’t enough.
We have to accept it, and we are proud, but also disappointed.”
Raphinha was far more upbeat, telling reporters: “If we keep playing like we did today, we’ll have a spectacular end to the season.”
