The Pittsburgh Steelers are not picking up the fifth-year option of offensive tackle Broderick Jones. it would cost the Steelers just over $19 million in 2027 to pick up Jones’ option. Additionally, Jones is dealing with a neck injury that could prevent him from being ready for training camp.
With the Steelers not picking up Jones’ option, it extends their streak of not picking up a player’s fifth-year option to five. The last first-round pick to have his option picked up was T.J. Watt.
Terrell Edmunds
signed a one-year deal with the Steelers in 2022 to remain with the team after his option wasn’t picked up. Devin Bush signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2023 before landing with the Cleveland Browns, and is now with the Chicago Bears. Najee Harris signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025 after his option was declined in May, 2024. And, of course, Kenny Pickett was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles after two seasons.
Next in line for their option to be picked up is 2024 first-round pick Troy Fautanu.
