The number of open roster spots for Maryland women’s basketball has tripled since yesterday as redshirt freshman guard Kyndal Walker has entered the transfer portal.
Walker’s announcement came just a few hours after redshirt senior forward Isi Ozzy-Momodu also said she would be entering the portal.
“A childhood dream has been fulfilled representing PG County and the UMD,” Walker wrote on social media, in a post where she also thanked her coaches and teammates.
After redshirting her freshman year with a hand injury, the St. John’s College High School product had a successful season in 2025-26, averaging 6.8 points and 2.2 assists per game.
After struggling to find her role early, Walker had a great close to the season, including a career-high 20 points in Maryland’s first round NCAA Tournament win over Murray State.
The Terps will remain very deep at the guard spot even after losing Walker.
Had she stayed, Walker was going to be part of a very crowded guard room alongside Oluchi Okananwa, Bri McDaniel, Kaylene Smikle, Addi Mack, Lea Bartelme, Jordyn Jackson, Rainey Welson and Ava McKennie.
