The Washington State Cougars continue their road trip to open the season with a trip to Manhatten, Kansas to square off with the Kansas State Wildcats.
For their trip to the ‘Little Apple,’ the Cougs will be wearing their all white uniform set.
The ‘Icy White’ uniform set has typically been a fan favorite over the years, though some fans think there’s not enough crimson in the set for them.
WSU first wore an all-white set back in 2014 in a home game against Oregon,
debuting their new white helmets. Since then, WSU has worn a variety of all white every year, either with a crimson facemask like they are wearing this week or with a white facemask.
Since 2017, WSU has worn all white 11 times, six times with a crimson facemask, five with a white facemask. The combo is a combined 5-6 in those games and 3-3 when wearing the crimson facemask. It hasn’t been that long since we’ve seen WSU in this exact set. The last time they wore it was the last game of the 2025 season in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl win over Utah State. Prior to that, the uniform hadn’t won outside of the state of Oregon, with wins at Oregon in 2017 and Oregon State in 2020.
Personally, this helmet might be in my top three favorite lids WSU has. While I have to give the number one spot to the script helmet, this one is up there. Unfortunately, it does boast a 3-7 record overall since its 2017 debut.
Following last week’s loss, the white jersey drops to 18-32 overall since 2017. In better news, the white pants have a 13-9 record since 2017.
