Tonight’s (Nov. 5) episode of Dynamite featured another first round match in the ongoing AEW women’s tag team championship tournament. Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale joined forces as the Babes of Wrath
to face the duo of TBS Champion Mercedes Moné and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena.
During the match, Tony Schiavone talked up Mercedes and Athena as the favorites to win the entire tournament, given their dominance of the women’s rosters in AEW and ROH, respectively. Would they deliver on the hype?
Nope!
The finish saw Athena’s minion Billie Starkz show up at ringside and up to no good. That brought out AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander to get rid of her. Back in the ring, Athena was caught in Willow’s doctor bomb amid the chaos. Harley then scored the three count with Her Finishing Move.
The Babes of Wrath now advance to the second round, where they will face Skye Blue and Julia Hart, also known as the Sisters of Sin.
