After a rough start to the month, losing three of their last five, the Phoenix Suns ended 2025 strong, winning five of their last seven and creeping closer to a top-six seed. To start the year, the team will be playing trips all throughout the country.
Here’s a peek at the team’s schedule for January.
Facing the West or on the West Coast
- Friday, January 2nd vs Sacramento Kings
- Sunday, January 4th vs Oklahoma City Thunder
- Monday, January 5th @ Houston Rockets
- Wednesday, January 7th @ Memphis Grizzlies
- Friday, January 9th vs New York Knicks
- Sunday, January 11th vs Washington Wizards
After a four-game road trip to end 2025, Phoenix will spend its first six games of their year either playing in the Western Conference or being on the West Coast. With a win over the Sacramento Kings
tomorrow, Phoenix will win the series against their division rival, and Sunday will be the first time they face the Thunder since Oklahoma City blew them out in the NBA Cup Quarterfinals in dramatic fashion.
If Jalen Green doesn’t return in time for the team’s Monday matchup in Houston, he will have to wait until next season or the playoffs to face his former team. Speaking of playing their former teams, Dillon Brooks will head to Memphis for the first time since being traded to Phoenix next Wednesday. Brooks played for the Grizzlies from 2017-2023.
Before they head out east for one of their longest road trips of the season, the Suns will face two Eastern Conference teams in completely different parts of the standings. First up will be The New York Knicks, who recently won the NBA Cup and are the second seed in the East, and then they’ll face the Wizards, the East’s 14th seed, who the Suns beat 115-101 on Monday. While it’s more likely he returns at the end of this stretch, Green could make his return during this period.
A long road trip out East
- Tuesday, January 13th @ Miami Heat
- Thursday, January 15th @ Detroit Pistons
- Saturday, January 17th @ New York Knicks
- Monday, January 19th @ Brooklyn Nets
- Tuesday January 20th @ Philadelphia 76ers
- Friday, January 23rd @ Atlanta Hawks
This will be one of two six-game road trips for the Suns this season, and the only one where they’ll face only Eastern Conference opponents. Their games against the Heat, Pistons, Nets, and 76ers will be their first looks at all these teams this season, while they’ll face the Knicks for a second time in as many weeks.
The team’s game against the Atlanta Hawks will be an interesting one. The Suns blew a 22-point fourth quarter lead to the Hawks back in November. Phoenix hasn’t won a game in Atlanta since 2014, nearly 15 months before Devin Booker was drafted by the Suns.
Home sweet home
- Sunday, January 25th vs Miami Heat
- Tuesday, January 27th vs Brooklyn Nets
- Thursday, January 29th vs Detroit Pistons
- Friday, January 30th vs Cleveland Cavaliers
The first three games of the home stand, Phoenix will get second looks at teams they faced in their previous road trip, while their last game of the month will be a rematch of their tango with the Cavs, who handled the Suns with ease yesterday in Cleveland.
