Well, it’s safe to say the majority of the BBN has officially ended the honeymoon period with Mark Pope after watching Kentucky basketball get destroyed by Michigan State in the Champions Classic.
Whether
it was on the offensive or defensive end, or even more in-depth with the mental game, the Spartans crushed the Cats. After another embarrassment last week to Louisville as well, things aren’t pretty around the program at the moment.
You can even tell that when Coach Pope walked in Madison Square Garden tonight.
As the night was getting tipped off, ESPN showed a shot of Pope walking into MSG. As Tyler Thompson of KSR said, Pope’s body language sure didn’t look terrific walking into the building at the moment.
I think this is how we all looked watching tonight’s game. There is still plenty of season left, but through the first two major non-conference games, the Cats are having a rough time finding any sort of rhythm on either end of the court.
After the game, Pope gave a brutal review of his team.
Ouch.
It’s clear that Pope is not afraid to admit he’s failed so far. Let’s hope he can turn this around.
