It’s not included in WWE’s highlight clips of CM Punk’s latest “pipe bomb”, this one from Punk’s show-opening promo on Raw last night (April 7) that targeted his WrestleMania 42 opponent Roman Reigns, the Samoan Dynasty including The Rock, Pat McAfee (or MAGAfee), and without naming them, Vince McMahon and Ari Emanuel.
That last mention came quickly after the jab at Pat’s suspected political leanings, when Punk said:
“Pat MAGA-fee, you buggy-whip armed, no-brained hillbilly. You want to talk about
ticket sales? Do me a favor. Call up that agent that was foolish enough to shoehorn you into this business and this show, and tell him to LOWER THE TICKET PRICES.
“Lower the ticket prices because I want all of these families to come watch me stand on Roman Reigns’ throat at WrestleMania. Because my name is CM Punk, and I approve this message.”
Well, as many suspected, even an uncontrollable wild card like Punk purports to be is unlikely to taunt his bosses about their marketing plan unless they’d revised said plan. And according to Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez:
“If it wasn’t obvious from Punk’s promo, it appears WWE is looking to lower ticket prices through the summer.“
Tough luck if you already budgeted for and bought tickets to a WWE show, and they’ll start inching those prices up again as soon as the product heats back up, and/or market conditions allow them to.
But wins for consumers are rare these days, under any circumstances, so we’ll take it.
