The Pittsburgh Steelers are gearing up for their Week 6 matchup with the Cleveland Browns, and they may have to do so without Calvin Austin. The Steelers’ receiver suffered a shoulder injury in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings that could cause him to miss the Steelers’ first AFC North matchup of the season.
The Steelers have been in the market for a No. 2 receiver opposite DK Metcalf even before Austin’s injury, and one former Pro Bowler has thrown his name in the hat.
Joining The Pivot, Beckham
named the Steelers as a team he’d like to play for.
“I don’t know if this is even a pitch,” Beckham said. “I look at the LA Rams. I look at the Steelers… the Chiefs. And you definitely gotta see me back in that [New York Giants] blue thing right before I get outta here.”
Beckahm added that he is accepting a six-game suspension for a PED violation last season, which means he won’t be available to play until Week 12. If the Steelers do want to add a valuable playmaker at receiver, odds are they don’t want to wait until the final quarter of the season to do it. That said, perhaps they could have their cake and eat it too by making a receiver trade and signing Beckham if that is the path they want to go.
Beckham has 575 career catches for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns.
