Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer is not ready to commit to anything just yet.
While many have assumed that this will be the veteran’s final season in Bavaria, the goalkeeper was not so quick to say he was definitely going to leave the club after the season.
In an interview with Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Neuer would not make a declaration that he would retire after the season, even if he did admit that the “probability is high”:

On whether his retirement next summer has been decided: “No, nothing is 100% certain. It’s not set in stone, but the probability is high.”
This is certainly an interesting development.
Neuer spend most of 2025 and early 2026 saying that he was done with international football, only to return for the 2026 World Cup in North America. Now, at a time where Bayern Munich seemed like it was getting ready to transition to Jonas Urbig, Neuer will hold out on making a decision — maybe in an effort to not repeat his past mistake.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Neuer is he has another standout season for his illustrious career. Would he be inclined to stick around for 2027/28?
Certainly, this is an answer that the club — and many fans — want to know.
