The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to sign free agent forward Jeremy Sochan to a one-year deal, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. Sochan, 23, will be entering his fifth NBA season this fall after finishing the 2025-26 season as a bench player on the championship-winning New York Knicks.
The San Antonio Spurs drafted the 6-foot-8 forward with the No. 9 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He spent three and a half seasons with the franchise before they waived him in February, opening the door for Sochan to join
the Knicks for the remainder of the season.
Throughout his four NBA seasons, Sochan has posted career averages of 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 24.1 minutes per game while shooting 47% from the field and 28.6% from beyond the 3-point line.
Sochan played a minimal role during the Knicks’ championship run, registering just 6.9 minutes per game during 16 regular-season appearances and 3.3 minutes per game during eight postseason appearances. However, he received much more extensive playing time during his tenure in San Antonio, logging 212 appearances, including 149 starts, and 25.3 minutes per game.
Sochan’s arrival in Portland adds defensive versatility and size to a forward rotation that needed more depth, though it doesn’t add more shooting to the lineup.
