Mizzou Football is coming off retaking the Mayor’s Cup from South Carolina, and Alabama looms large two weeks from now.
But before a massive matchup with the Tide, the Tigers will celebrate the 114th Homecoming at the University of Missouri by hosting UMass.
Mizzou has won its last eight Homecoming matchups and is 12-3 since 2010. The team is 68-40-5 overall in Homecoming games entering this year, which is only the second time the event has been hosted in September.
The other Homecoming in September
came back in 1974, when the Tigers emerged with a 9-0 victory over Arizona State.
This year’s contest is also the first time Mizzou faces UMass in Columbia, and the two teams’ first-ever football game took place in Amherst last season when the Tigers won 45-3. Eli Drinkwitz’s squad is favored by nearly 45 points today; the Minutemen are ranked last in the FBS in Bill Connelly’s SP+ ratings and have the lowest-rated FBS defense, creating a high potential for some offensive fireworks.
We’ll have the most notable updates from the game here in this article. For all of our live updates, check our forums over at RockM+.
