Steelers running back Rico Dowdle was a limited participant in Steelers practice Wednesday for the first time in over two weeks as Pittsburgh prepares for a matchup against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday of Week 5.
Dowdle, who said he dislocated a toe in Week 2 against the Patriots and had it pop out of place twice in the game, was held out of Pittsburgh’s following games against both the Bengals and Browns after being a non-participant in practice. Now, he’s showing signs of progress towards a return.
Also listed as limited on the Steelers’ initial Week 5 injury report was wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (foot), who was seen with his foot propped up on a scooter earlier Wednesday.
Veteran defensive backs Jamel Dean (ankle) and Jalen Ramsey (wrist) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. On Tuesday, Dean was seen without the walking boot he used after Pittsburgh loss to the Browns, the same game in which Ramsey played through a broken wrist.
Defensive lineman Cam Heyward rounded out Wednesday’s report as a non-participant with a rest day designation.
The Colts had a slightly longer injury report Wednesday.
Wide receiver Ashton Dulin (hamstring), linebackers Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee) and Jaylon Carlies (ribs), center Tanor Bortolini (ankle) and defensive end Arden Key (hamstring) did not participate. Wide receiver Keenan Allen (rest/groin), running back Jonathan Taylor (rest).
Despite a thumb injury designation, center Will Mallory logged a full practice for Indianapolis.
