it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Regarding GUNTHER’s WrestleMania plans, per Bodyslam that his work with Dragon Lee was supposed to set-up a match with Rey Mysterio for WWE’s return to Las Vegas. Mysterio says he worked Royal Rumble with broken ribs, hasn’t been on television since, and his status for WrestleMania is unknown. It’s also not clear if GUNTHER will even have a match at this year’s show if Rey isn’t cleared.
- Asked whether AEW is discussed at WWE during a recent Live Q&A, TC of WrestleVotes said WWE has employees whose job “is to watch AEW programming and report into analytics and different departments on what’s going on in AEW.”
- No news on if EVIL has signed with WWE yet, but Voices of Wrestling’s Super J-cast reported on negotiations. The former New Japan star has apparently expressed a preference to start in NXT to learn the WWE style, but wants to keep his established name and character.
- Meanwhile, Fightful Select says WWE handles whether to keep television-ready talent in NXT on a case-by-case basis. When making that decision, two things consistently considered are the need for familiar names to promote the show/draw ratings, and the need for experienced workers to help greener talent in all aspects of the business.
- Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp tweeted that neither AEW nor WBD officals made Ricochet apologize for his MS tweet, but after he did AEW told him he’d done the right thing. Sapp told followers he had “no insight” on Ricochet’s future.
- After reports he’d be undergoing triceps surgery today, AAA posted a storyline promo of Santos Escobar addressing El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. In it, Escobar says he’ll be out “for months”.
- After a recent rumor said Alexander Hammerstone is out injured, he posted pictures of himself working and captioned it, “Typical bs”.
