Bayern Munich and Germany legend Thomas Müller has spent the past two decades dropping hundreds of assists for club and country. Known to many as Raumdeuter, translated as “interpreter of space”, he has accumulated an envious display case, including 13 Bundesliga titles, two Champions League victories, and the highly coveted World Cup trophy.
According to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Müller has enlisted a pair of former teammates to buy a Portuguese club:
Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, Yann Sommer as well
as a group of investors are planning to take over Estrela Amadora, the club that Lovro Zvonarek joined today from Bayern. Negotiations for the takeover are already at an advanced stage. Their goal is to lead Estrela Amadora into the top eight of the Portuguese league and to further develop promising talents. Zvonarek is now among those young players.
Estrela Amadora has barely escaped relegation in each of the past three seasons while playing in Portugal’s top flight Primeira Liga. After filing for bankruptcy in 2011, the club re-emerged in 2020 and quickly earned promotion.
Last season, the team only rostered two players over the age of 27 and one of them was the goalkeeper. The club has plenty of room for growth potential if the new ownership group can identify and implement some winning strategies.
