The Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts are set to face off Sunday at Lumen Field.
Just weeks ago the matchup seemed to be one that would give football fans an opportunity to see a pair of teams fighting for the top seed in their respective conferences face off in what could have been a preview of Super Bowl LX.
However, in recent weeks the Colts hot start has come to a crashing halt, and the loss of quarterback Daniel Jones for the year with an Achilles injury, paired with questions about when
the recently-acquired Sauce Gardner might be able to return from a calf injury, has brought things to the point where Indianapolis seems likely to turn to Philip Rivers in an attempt to salvage the season.
On the flip side, the Seahawks appear to be getting healthy just in time for a late season and postseason push. Darke Young, Eric Saubert, Jalen Sundell and Rylie Mills have all been designated to return to practice, and in advance of those players potentially being available this weekend, NFL insider Ian Rapoport has reported that Seattle waived a pair of veterans Thursday.
Both Cam Akers and Shaquill Griff could be candidates for the practice squad if they clear waivers.
