This tournament features 24 total teams and for Slovenia to advance to the knockout round, they have to finish
in the top four in their group.
During EuroBasket 2022, Slovenia finished first in their group, but failed to get out of the quarterfinals, losing to Poland 90-87.
While Slovenia won’t be favored to win it all this year, considering there are some top teams like France and Serbia participating, as long as they have Luka, they have a shot at making some noise.
Luka has played well during the exhibition games leading up to EuroBasket.
He scored 28 points against Great Britain and 19 in a loss to Germany. He also had an injury scare and had to leave a contest against Latvia due to a knee contusion, but has since returned and played in the final two exhibition matches.
These opportunities to represent his country are moments Luka takes seriously and participates in as long as they do not conflict with his NBA duties.
From the Lakers fans’ perspective, the ideal situation is for Luka to perform well, showcasing his new physique and improved performance and then return to Los Angeles in excellent condition, ready to start training camp.
All EuroBasket games will be streaming on Courtside 1891, so be sure to sign up for a subscription to easily watch Luka and Slovenia take on the rest of Europe.
