Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Softball!
Mizzou Baseball couldn’t get the midweek win vs SIUE on Tuesday night, but Mizzou Softball got the job done on the diamond last night.
In a must-win game, junior pitcher Marissa McCann delivered not only a no-hitter, but a PERFECT GAME (11 strikeout performance) in a 7-0 victory.
It’s the first perfect game since Laurin Krings vs Bradley in 2022 —
and the 13th in school history.
The win pushed Mizzou’s record to 25-24 overall on the season as the Tigers look to stay alive for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The path doesn’t get any easier, however. After a home series loss to South Carolina last weekend, Missouri will head to Fayetteville against an Arkansas team that’s 36-8 overall and ranked No. 6 in the recent polls.

With the No. 7 overall team ranking this offseason per 247Sports, Mizzou Basketball added a nonconference game to its schedule that differs from the typical Mizzou noncon. The Tigers will face the Marquette Golden Eagles in a neutral site matchup on Nov. 15.
This should be a fun one in Chicago. Marquette is coming off a down year but they’re still a quality program under Shaka Smart.

It was also the thirteenth perfect game in Mizzou history and the first since 2022. It also, per SID Trent Spinner, was the first time since 2013 (against Ole Miss) that the team threw two no hitters against the same opponent, and the first time since 1991 (against SLU) that a Missouri team had both a no-hitter and a perfect game against an opponent in the same season.
Mizzou Softball setting all kinds of records with this performance.
