Stephanie McMahon’s guest on the latest edition of her What’s Your Story? podcast was Nikki Bella. The WWE Hall of Famer is in the midst of a comeback at 41-years-old, and after neck fusion surgery. She’s also the latest of several women’s wrestlers to prove that becoming a mother doesn’t mean the end of your career.
When the topic of the Billion Dollar Princess returning to the ring came up, McMahon was quick to remind everyone that she shot that idea down on the Evolution Countdown show a couple
months back. And her answer is unchanged — but she praised Bella for doing it:
“Big E asked me on the pre-show, he goes, ‘Do you have one more match in you?’ And I’m like, ‘No.’
”I’m like, ‘Have you seen this division?!?’ Same thing [now]. I’ll embarrass myself and the business if I try to hang with these women. But you’re in there doing it.“
48-year-old Stephanie wrestled fairly regularly until about 2003, but has only done so three times since becoming a mother herself for the first time in 2006: her last singles match was in 2014 against Nikki’s Hall of Fame twin sister Brie, and her last match — apparently ever — was her mixed tag with husband Triple H against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34 in 2018.
But it’s a never say never business, right?
