The Cleveland Browns 2026 schedule is out, and there is a lot to digest. The Browns have a difficult early schedule based on a large number of road games. If they can stay around .500 going into their bye week, Cleveland could make a push for a playoff spot with a lot of late-season home contests. Given the Week 1 and Super Bowl betting odds, there is a lot of skepticism about that happening.
While we have known for a while who the Browns would be playing this year, the schedule provides context for those
games. Given how the schedule sets up, there are five games that have changed their difficulty level.
Week 4 Browns vs Steelers – Harder
Almost every Thursday Night Football game is more difficult for both teams. In this case, a young Cleveland team has its only primetime game scheduled in the first quarter of the year, and it is their first AFC North matchup. As a veteran-laden team, Pittsburgh will likely be more prepared for this contest, even though it is on the road. Just a lot of pressure for a young Browns team.
Week 5 Browns vs Jets – Easier
Strictly due to rest, Cleveland’s first game in New York became slightly easier due to their mini-bye week. The Jets will play in Chicago on Sunday, October 4th, while the Browns will have been resting since Thursday night, October 1st. A small benefit for Cleveland.

Week 8 Browns vs Steelers – Easier
Last year, Cleveland decided not to have their bye week right after their international game and found itself facing Pittsburgh the following week. That has been reversed in 2026, with the Steelers traveling to Paris in Week 7 before facing the Browns in Week 8. At least Pittsburgh gets to stay at home, unlike Cleveland last year.
Week 9 Browns vs Saints – Harder
Not only does New Orleans get Cleveland on their third straight road game, but the Saints will be coming off their Week 8 bye week as well. There may not be a worse combination of non-roster factors in any NFL game this year. The Browns have a strong negative with their road schedule, while the Saints have strong positives coming off their bye and being at home. If ever there was a game that felt like a schedule loss, this is it (the first of two).
Week 10 Browns vs Texans – Harder
Coming off three straight road games, including their furthest trip of the season in Week 9 in New Orleans, Cleveland faces the Houston Texans and their dominant defense right before their Week 11 bye week. If ever there was a game that felt like a schedule loss, this is the second in a row. The Texans will be on the road for the second week, after facing the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9, but the Browns might already be on their bye week mentally, and physically drained from almost a month of travel.
Week 12 Browns vs Raiders – Easier
The best stretch of Cleveland’s season is having its bye weeks surrounded by four home games. The Browns won’t have to leave Ohio for over a month, and get to face Las Vegas a week after a big divisional game (vs the Broncos) and in their second straight road game.
None of that means Cleveland will for sure win the easier contests or are certain to lose the games that got harder, just that each matchup now has new variables in play.
Which of the above games do you think has changed the most due to how the Browns schedule lines up? Is there another game that you think changed more than these 6 based on the schedule?
