Chargers fans were graced with good news on Tuesday afternoon as The Athletic’s Daniel Popper reported that right guard Mekhi Becton — who has missed several weeks with an undisclosed injury — is back taking part in practice.
Over three weeks ago, Jim Harbaugh told reporters that Becton was dealing with an injury that was not “of the severe variety” and that he’d be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. Fast forward to now and he’s finally back at practice. And apparently in good
spirits! In the video above, you can see Becton take part in an individual drill and after his rep, he’s seen playfully colliding with another one of his teammates.
From an outside perspective, this is awesome news and even better to see that the missed time has not been weighing on his mind. Fans should (rightfully) be extremely elated.
With the loss of Rashawn Slater still likely on the minds of the team, every day that passed with Becton still not practicing was weighing heavier and heavier on the hopes that the team would still have a competitive unit in 2025. At least now, there can be a sigh of relief all around.
