The Washington Commanders held the team’s first full practice as they prepare for a home, primetime game against the Chargers. Terry McLaurin is still not practicing, and Dan Quinn said they would be monitoring
his progress this week. He suffered a hip injury in Week 3, and hasn’t practiced since. McLaurin got a second opinion, but didn’t need surgery and wasn’t going to be placed on injured reserve. He’s now trending towards missing his third game of the season.
Washington could be getting a wide receiver back off the shelf with Noah Brown returning to practice this week. He’s missed the last three games due to a groin injury he suffered in Week 2. Brown practiced with the team yesterday, and was limited in the team’s first official practice of the week.
Chris Rodriguez Jr was the only other player who didn’t practice due to injury. He’s listed with a new calf injury. Deebo Samuel Sr missed two practices last week due to a heel injury, but practice fully on Friday and scored the final touchdown against the Chargers last Sunday. He’s still listed with the heel injury, but had the team’s only vet rest day.
John Bates made his return to the field after missing two games with a groin injury. He was also dealing with a calf injury, but neither of those ailments are listed today. He did pick up a new shoulder injury, and he was limited today.
Sam Cosmi’s 21-day practice window was opened last week. This gave him three weeks to get back on the active roster, or he would get shut down for the season. Cosmi tore his ACL during a divisional round playoff win over the Detroit Lions. When Cosmi returns, Washington will need to adjust their offensive line again.
