In the wake of Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker heading to the Kansas City Chiefs
, hopes were high that the Seattle Seahawks might turn to running back Tyler Allgeier.Perception has largely been that Walker, Allgeier, and Travis Etienne are the three
best running backs available this offseason. Allgeier had been part of arguably the NFL’s best one-two punch with Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons last season. Though a similar style of runner to Zach Charbonnet, that is (1) not a bad thing, and (2) Charbonnet’s not available at the moment.
Nevertheless, instead of Seattle, Allgeier ends up with a divisional rival, signing with the Arizona Cardinals and their 77-year drought.
Two years and a $12 million max is cheaper than I thought he would go for, and for some others as well. While PFF projections had his number at $5 million per season, he’d been seeking around $7.5m per year.
The wait is still on for the Seahawks to find a back besides George Holani to help fill the room this offseason.
