Tennessee baseball is set for its second weekend series of the season, welcoming in Kent State to Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Volunteers have started with a 4-0 mark to open the Josh Elander era in Knoxville, coming off of a 10-3 win on Tuesday afternoon over UNC Asheville.
Kent State comes to town with a 3-1 mark. The Golden Flashes swept Southeastern Louisiana last weekend before dropping a midweek contest to LSU. Friday’s game will serve as the first ever meeting between the two schools.
Kent State
serves as a decent uptick in competition for the Volunteers. They won the 2025 MAC regular season title and have been picked to finish second this season. LSU found out how competitive they were on Monday, getting past the Golden Flashes with a 10-7 win.
Tennessee will be looking to continue their big-time start on the mound, once again throwing Tegan Kuhns, Evan Blanco and Landon Mack. Blanco and Mack may swap spots this weekend as Mack deals with an illness.
Do-it-all Blaine Brown has come in exactly as advertised, hitting .474 with three home runs so far. Brown went for a perfect first inning on the mound on Tuesday as well, striking out all three batters he faced. Reese Chapman and Henry Ford are also off to hot starts, each hitting over .400 through four games.
