Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
10 reasons the Eagles will be a dumpster fire this season – PhillyVoice 1) Firing Kevin Patullo won’t fix everything. Patullo was in over his head as a coordinator, but on some levels, he also unfairly bore the full brunt of the blame for some aspects of the offense that were very likely outside of his control. For example: In several games — notably in losses to the Broncos and Cowboys, as well as a near-loss to the Bills — the Eagles got a lead,
and then went into hyper-conservative mode in the second half, blowing double-digit point leads. Oftentimes on third and long the Eagles would call ultra-conservative plays (draws to Will Shipley that had no chance, for example), opting not to risk a turnover and instead choosing to punt. • In several scenarios at the end of the first half, the Eagles would effectively opt not to try to score more points, and let the time run out. Make no mistake. Those frustrating big picture types of strategic decisions came from Sirianni, not Patullo. […] There may not be a coaching quote I hate more than the “End every drive with a kick” horseshit. Punting is bad! Aside from some late-game situations, punting should not be an acceptable outcome. But with this Eagles team specifically, which had the highest percentage of drives ending in three-and-outs in the NFL in 2025, any kind of messaging that punts are OK is just mind-blowing.
Eagles scouting report: Moro Ojomo – BGN
Starting interior defender as a 3-5 Tech and in a one-gap attacking front due to his snap anticipation, acceleration, arm length, lateral agility, and hand violence. Effective as an interior penetrator, looper on Twists and Outside Zone disruptor due to his ability to cross-face blockers and work laterally. Generates pressure through quickness and athleticism rather than power. Not a serious Bull Rush threat and needs space to operate as a pass rusher, as jump sets and blockers who absorb his initial burst limit his effectiveness. Best protected from Combo blocks and extended double-team responsibility due to adequate play strength and anchor.
Riq Woolen makes strong first impression with Eagles – ESPN
No Eagles player generated more buzz this spring than new cornerback Riq Woolen. Quarterback Jalen Hurts tested him on the first practice open to reporters in May, launching a deep ball down the left sideline for his primary option, DeVonta Smith. Woolen used his 4.26-second 40-yard dash speed to catch up to Smith downfield and his 6-foot-4 frame to force an incompletion on a slightly underthrown ball by Hurts. He closed minicamp with a splash, undercutting a pass intended for tight end Dallas Goedert before racing the other way with the interception. It put an exclamation point on a promising start for the former Seattle Seahawk.

“I Don’t Think It’s a Conflict of Interest”: Eagles’ Cooper DeJean Pushes Back Against Narrative Around Dating Cowboys Cheerleader – Yahoo!
“We met well, we had known about each other for some time, and then we happened to be both in Florida at the same time during the national championship game,” Cooper DeJean said on Exciting Mics. “She was down there, I was down there, and then I met her down there, and then I believe the next weekend was a Super Bowl, and she was out at the Super Bowl also. “So we had hung out there a couple times and then yeah, it was kind of just after that we just kept seeing each other, hanging out,” he added. “I don’t really think it’s a conflict of interest. I mean, it’s not like we both play football. Yeah, exactly. We don’t play football. She’s a cheerleader.”
Cowboys 2026 roster rundown: QB Sam Howell – Blogging The Boys
Still just 25, and having bounced around the NFL for the last few years, Howell may still have room to improve. It’s interesting that his last stop was Philadelphia, where he spent practices throwing against Christian Parker’s secondary. We don’t know if Dallas’ new defensive coordinator had a hand in signing Howell, but you’d assume they at least asked his opinion. The Cowboys, including Brian Schottenheimer, certainly knew him from his time in Washington as well. Again, Sam Howell’s guaranteed money isn’t enough to fully guarantee a roster spot. But it certainly works in his favor, as do Joe Milton’s mixed results in limited playing time. Both backup candidates will be heavily discussed this summer, making for one of the best roster battles of 2026.
Commanders roster rankings: edge rusher Odafe Oweh lands at No. 4 – Hogs Haven
The Commanders spent tons of money in NFL free agency. The lion’s share went to Odafe Oweh. The edge rusher signed a four-year contract worth up to $100 million, with $68 million in guarantees. That’s a ton for someone who has generally been more of a situational or rotational player. The dividends have been strong the past two seasons – more on that in a bit – and were enough to make Washington comfortable betting big on a young, talented player presumptively on the ascent. Oweh will be 27 most of the regular season – he turns 28 in December — and just barely 32 at the end of his deal. Those are prime years where the Commanders hope Oweh can be a frontline pass rusher off the edge.
New York Giants mailbag: Tremaine Edmunds, turf vs. grass, Jaxson Dart – Big Blue View
When the Giants started searching for a new head coach, though, I started to consider their history. What types of coaches have won with the Giants? What type of football have the Giants played when they have been championship-caliber? In the Super Bowl era, Bill Parcells and Tom Coughlin were hard-nosed, no-nonsense, CEO style head coaches. They could motivate, they could lead, they demanded a lot from their players, they built teams that were tough, defense-first squads that fit the personality of the New York/New Jersey area. Ben McAdoo, Pat Shurmur, Joe Judge, and Brian Daboll did not fit that mold. John Harbaugh obviously does. There are some common denominators that run through the four Giants’ Super Bowl-winning teams. Defenses led by ferocious pass rushes. Offenses led by quarterbacks who weren’t the best of their generations, but who were tough, talented, and unafraid of the big moments. Those offenses weren’t high-flying. They were physical, opportunistic offenses with strong running games. Special teams with quality kickers that always seemed to make winning plays at crucial times. I think that because of the hiring of Harbaugh, whose philosophy aligns with the one that has always seemed to work best for the Giants, the team is moving back in that direction. I do think the Steelers and 49ers are examples of franchises where you always think of certain styles of play. The Ravens, too.
Brendan Sorsby gets more bad news, this time from the CFL – SB Nation
Brendan Sorsby’s path to professional football has hit another roadblock. Days after the NFL informed the quarterback that the league would not hold a Supplemental Draft, closing a potential pathway for the Texas Tech passer to the professional ranks, the CFL has informed teams that they will not be “permitted” to add Sorsby to their rosters via the league’s negotiation list. In a statement first provided to USA Today, the CFL indicated that teams will not be able to add Sorsby to their rosters via the negotiation list. “Upholding the integrity of the league and ensuring fair competition are paramount to the CFL. The allegations involving Brendan Sorsby are serious and concerning,” said the league. “At this time, the CFL will not register a contract for him, and no team will be permitted to add him to its negotiation list.”
