Having won three of their last four, the Rockies (33-89) will look to tally another mark in the win column as they host the Diamondbacks (60-63) on Saturday night. Colorado needs nine more wins to avoid being the worst team in the Modern Era by eclipsing the White Sox 41-121 record last season.
Chase Dollandaer (2-9, 6.35 ERA) will make his second start since returning from Triple-A. In his first game back on Aug. 11 since going down to Albuquerque on July 6, Dollander pitched five solid innings,
giving up one run on five hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Dollander will be looking for his first win since April 30.
Ryne Nelson (6-3, 3.46) will start for Arizona. The 27-year-old RHP has appeared in 25 games for Arizona this year, starting 15 of them. He’s been a starter only since June 7. In his last start against Texas on Aug. 11, Nelson gave up five runs on seven hits, including a homer, with six strikeouts in a no-decision.
Earlier in the day on Saturday, the Rockies made a roster move in the infield depth department:
There were cloudy skies and a few raindrops in Denver earlier Saturday, but the forecast seems ok for the game, which is good news for two reasons considering the Rockies will host the Diamondbacks at the same time the Denver Broncos will be hosting the Arizona Cardinals.
